Certified Professional Collector® (CPC) ProgramREGISTER FOR THIS ONLINE COURSE HERE. Overview of Training Course DATIA’s Certified Professional Collector® online training provides collection personnel with the training to become proficient in DOT and federal urine specimen collections for drug testing in the workplace. The goal of this class is to train you on how to collect urine specimens for drug testing in accordance with DATIA standards, which are derived from Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Mandatory Guidelines, and industry best practices. This program aims to ensure that the collection is performed in a professional and consistent manner, maintaining confidentiality for the donor and security, integrity, and control of the specimen. DATIA's CPC Course is designed for new collectors who may have little or no experience in specimen collection procedures. This online course comprehensively covers all aspects of the collection process, and can be completed at a pace suitable for your experience level. DATIA’s Certified Professional Collector® (CPC) training program meet and exceed DOT’s Training Requirements for collectors as outlined in 49 CFR Part 40.31 and in DOT’s “How Can I Become a Collector for DOT Testing." This course (along with the mock collections required by the DOT) also meets the HHS requirements for collector qualification training. Please note: with this course attendees will receive the classroom portion of the initial training and/or five year refresher requirements for DOT and HHS. Mock collections will need to be completed after completion of the course. DATIA training fees do NOT include Proficiency Demonstrations, also known as the “5 mock collections,” a DOT requirement for collector training, and, therefore a DATIA requirement for CPC/CPCT certification. You will need to do these on your own before getting access to DATIA’s CPC certification exam. Please use our Regional Certified Professional Collector Trainer (R-CPCT) directory here to search for an R-CPCT near you to monitor your mock collections. If you cannot locate one near you, please keep in mind that many are willing to travel or monitor mock collections via webcam. You may also complete the mock collections with ANY collector who has been doing DOT collections for at least a year, OR who has taken a Train-the-Trainer course in DOT collections. (See 49 CFR Part 40.33 – What Training Requirements Must a Collector Meet?) * For those new to drug and alcohol testing or looking for a primer, DATIA recommends taking the Ins & Outs of Drug & Alcohol Testing online course prior to taking this course. Doing so will provide a primer allowing you to enhance your educational experience during this course. Certification and Accreditation The Collector Certification Program and Accredited Collection Facility Program, administered by DATIA, involve upholding the highest professional standards in the collection facility and its operation, and the collection facility's personnel. To obtain accredited status, collection facilities are required to adhere to strict standards in areas such as regulatory compliance, company service standards, specimen handling, operational practices, business ethics, and facility equipment. All accredited collection facilities are also required to maintain a staff of Certified Professional Collectors®. Click here for more information and a list of all accreditation requirements. Continuing Education Units Upon successful completion of the course, attendees receive .75 CEUs (7.5 contact hours) of continuing education credit.
